Who asked Deloitte what it would cost to repair the Palace of Westminster? They are accountants. So they asked the glitzy American architects HOK, who built the Olympic stadium for £700 million, including £200 million to make it usable by West Ham United. The sum is a simple scandal, but no one dares say so as it carries the “Olympic legacy” gold-plate. As for the Palace of Westminster, it is like asking Asprey to estimate replacing the kitchen cutlery.
