Animal rights activists have called for two men to be prosecuted over a video showing them "surfing" on a whale shark emerged online. The footage showed the pair standing on the rare creature as a speedboat tows them through the water. People on board are heard laughing and cheering them on in the video, which has been viewed almost 250,000 times since being posted on Facebook. Whale sharks are the largest known fish species and can grow to lengths of more than 40ft. They are considered vulnerable to extinction.
