More than 70 firefighters were called to a house fire which broke out in Highgate last night. Four people were in the four-storey house in Wood Lane when the blaze started just before 11pm. They managed to escape unscathed before 10 fire crews arrived and battled the flames for more than five hours, finally bringing them under control at about 4.45am. The fire completely destroyed the roof and badly damaged the second and third floors, the London Fire Brigade said.
